Vidhyarambam

The first letter, written in rice.

On Vijayadashami, the tenth day of Navaratri, families across Tamil Nadu sit with their little ones and guide a small finger through grains of rice to trace the first letter. It is a prayer to Kalaimagal, goddess of learning, that this child will love to learn.

At Thaamarai, that first letter is where the story begins: from wonder in the early years, to curiosity, to finding what they love, to leading, all the way to Grade XII.
