“Democracy is not merely a form of government; it is a living practice of active participation, structured dialogue, and responsible leadership.”
At Thaamarai World School, we empower our students with experiential learning opportunities that extend well beyond traditional textbooks. To deepen their understanding of Indian democracy and governance, our school organized an interactive Youth Parliament Session, transforming our auditorium into a dynamic house of debate and legislative deliberation.
Our young scholars stepped confidently into key parliamentary roles, embodying the spirit of democratic governance:
Speaker: Siddharth
Prime Minister: Farhan
Leader of the Opposition: Sanjay
Cabinet Ministers & Key Portfolios: Dharika (Food Minister), Sharan (Agriculture Minister), Alina (Transport Minister), Naveen (Finance Minister), and Sabarina (Education Minister)
Active MPs: Kasvi (Opposition MP 1), Rithunandhana (Opposition MP 2), Vignesh (Ruling MP 1), Sourabhi (Ruling MP 2), and Abinandhana (Ruling MP 3)
Under the firm and disciplined guidance of the Speaker, the house engaged in spirited, structured debates on critical contemporary issues, including environmental protection, digital safety, education reforms, and community welfare. The Opposition raised pertinent questions, while the Ministry presented well-researched policy responses, strictly adhering to parliamentary protocol.
This immersive activity provided a practical masterclass in civil governance, helping our students cultivate sharp critical thinking, public speaking, diplomatic negotiation, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
